Last week’s Hawaii Broadband Task Force meeting was held in the swank 30th floor dining room of First Hawaiian Bank. They also provided an excellent Internet connection as compared to what I have been used to at the State Capitol. Unfortunately I did not get any shots of the view and the shades were down to accommodate the slide presentation. Tim Bajarin, a tech pundit based in the Bay Area did a good overview of where Internet devices are going and what will happen when 3+billion users spring into action. The key points I took away from the presentation are the proliferation of Internet devices vying for our attention, everything from computer monitors, television, mobile devices and even mundane things like photo frames. According to Tim, all the manufacturers are creating some form of visual display device and they are all asking the question of how much smarts are they going to put into the device. The slides are a little hard to see but I will post the preso as soon as I get them.
