Bytemarks Lunch

February 2nd, 2008 · No Comments · Uncategorized

Bytemarks lunch - Jan. 2008Probably one of the more intelligent things I have done is to maintain the Bytemarks lunch gatherings downtown. It’s a monthly lunch with no agenda and no expectation on who will show up. It wasn’t rocket science either, just consistency, sortof. Usually it is the last week of the month on either Wed, Thurs or Fri. We had a good showing given this Wednesday lunch was threatened with off and on rain. It was good to see Hoala Greevy from Pau Spam join us for the first time given the fact that he’s been on the Bytemarks list for years. Dave Kozuki shared with us his next generation social network applications in People Bridge. Kara Imai and Roxanne Darling graced us with their presence. Paul Lawler, the gadget guy, took the show with his Solio solar powered charger. This device almost outdid his Sterling Engine. With the Solio, you can take your electronic device like iPhone, cell phone, digital camera and provide alternative power to it. This ergonomically appealing device is an essential component in anyone’s survival kit. I can see bringing this to places like Kaho`olawe where there is no electrical outlet. I always worry about my digital camera running out of juice there. According to Paul, you can find it online for about $60. Thanks Paul for sharing!
